Home / Five Heart of Kent Towns... / Out and About in Sevenoaks
Nearby Westerham is a small town with lovely buildings surrounding a picturesque village green. There is a plentiful supply of antique shops to browse on route to nearby Chartwell, the former home of Winston Churchill, whose imposing statue can be found in the village, near to the church.
Edenbridge is on the fringe of the Weald in the extreme south-west of Kent and stands on the River Eden, which flows into the Medway at Penshurst, dating from about 100AD when the High Street was originally a section of the Roman road leading from London to Lewes.
Swanley, to the north, is a modern town easily accessible to the motorways M20 and M25 and with good rail links to London. It has a variety of leisure facilities, and a very popular weekly market.
