The Other Boleyn Girl

The Heart of Kent stars in a major new film due to be released in the UK on 7 March featuring Natalie Portman, Scarlett Johansson and Eric Bana.

The Other Boleyn Girl starring Scarlett Johansson and Natalie PortmanAdapted from Philippa Gergory's bestselling novel, 'The Other Boleyn Girl' tells the tale of Anne Boleyn and her sister Mary as they compete for the love of King Henry VIII. Visitors to the Heart of Kent can see firsthand where scenes from the film were shot during November 2006 - including Penshurst Place and Knole - as well as Hever Castle, the Boleyn family home.

On presentation of 'The Other Boleyn Girl' leaflet available from Tourist Information Centre's in the Heart of Kent, visitors can take advantage of some special offers on admission to the visitor attractions featured in the film:

Penshurst Place & Gardens £7.00 (adult) and £4.00 (child); Hever Castle £9.15 per person and Knole £7.60 (adults) and £3.80 (child). The Baron's Hall at Penshurst Place

Penshurst Place, the family home of the the Sidneys for over 450 years, doubles in the film as Whitehall Palace, and the magnificent Baron's Hall was used as the setting for Henry and Anne's wedding feast. Penshurst Place is open to visitors at weekends and opens every day from 21 March to 2 November 2008.

 

 

 

KnoleKnole in Sevenoaks, depicts London by night in the film and can be seen in several scenes as the characters ride to and from court. Knole is open from 15 March to 2 November 2008.

 

Hever Castle and GardensAlthough no filming actually took place at Hever Castle, it was the Boleyn family home in real life and features heavily in Philippa Gregory's novel. Today several portraits of the Boleyn family and family mementoes can be seen by visitors to the Castle. Hever Castle & Gardens is open from 1 March to 30 November 2008.
